Family location, done kindly

Know they're safe.
Wherever they are.

LocStat Family quietly keeps your people on one map — kids walking home, a parent across town, the whole family on a trip — without the dread of a surveillance app.

What it does

A calm map, and a few gentle signals

No alerts firing all day, no feeling of being followed. Just the handful of things families actually want to know.

One shared map

Everyone who's chosen to share, on one live map — each with a plain status: Home safe, Running late, Out and about. Open it, breathe, close it.

Live location

Named places

Mark home, school, grandma's, the soccer field. Get a quiet "arrived" or "left" — only for the places that matter.

Arrive & leave notes

SOS, when it counts

One press raises a full-screen alert with a chime on every family phone, plus a live location. Someone taps "I've seen it" to clear it; if no one answers, the owners get an email.

Emergency

"On my way"

Heading over? Send a real arrival time, powered by live traffic, so they know exactly when to expect you.

Live ETA

A note to their phone

On a kid's basic phone with no texting, you can still reach them. Send a short note — up to 200 characters — and it lands right on their screen: "running late, wait inside."

One-way note

Gentle on the battery

Built to sip power, not drain it. It checks in just often enough — and you can slow it right down when all's well.

Why LocStat

More than a dot on a map

Most ways of keeping tabs on family fall into two camps: a plain location share that tells you almost nothing, or an app that treats your family like something to be watched. LocStat is built to be neither.

The usual way

Sharing a location

  • — A dot on a map, with no sense of what it means
  • — All-or-nothing: share everything, or nothing
  • — Pings and alerts all day until you tune them out
  • — One-sided — you watch, they don't know how much
  • — Left on and forgotten, a permanent record of every move
  • — Free because your family's data is the product
The LocStat way

Looking out for each other

  • ✓ Plain-language updates: arrived home, left school, 6 min away
  • ✓ Only the places and moments that matter — not a running trail
  • ✓ Quiet by design; it speaks up for SOS and arrivals, not noise
  • ✓ Mutual and visible — everyone can see who can see them
  • ✓ Recent picture kept useful, then history fades on its own
  • ✓ One flat subscription — your data is never sold

The difference is the feeling. LocStat is built so being on the map feels like being looked out for — not looked over.

Named places

The spots that make up a family's week

Set up the places you care about once. From then on, LocStat tells you simply that someone arrived or left — not a running log of every step. You stay in the loop at school pickup, soccer practice, or a visit to grandma's, and nowhere in between.

Our story

A long, free day on the bike

Growing up on the base, I'd be gone on my bike all day — all over, out of sight, home by dinner. Not causing trouble. Just being a kid. That kind of freedom is one of the best parts of growing up, and it only works when the grown-ups aren't sick with worry.

Years in the Canadian Armed Forces as a signals technician taught me the rest. Keeping track of your people — knowing everyone's accounted for and safe — wasn't a feature out there. It was the job.

When I went looking for an app to do that for my own family, what I found felt like surveillance, not care: hidden tracking, endless alerts, data sold to whoever would pay. So I built the opposite. LocStat Family is a calm, shared map where sharing is always invited and always visible, the data stays in Canada, and the point is simple — your people get to go live their lives, and you get to stop worrying.

Privacy by design

Watching over each other — not watching over a shoulder

Location is personal. LocStat is built so sharing always feels mutual, visible, and yours to stop.

✓

Even our staff can't see you

Our support and developer staff can help with your account, but they never see anyone's location — and every staff action is logged.

✓

Everyone can see who's watching

Sharing is invited and always visible on both sides. No hidden tracking, ever — if someone can see you, you know it.

✓

Your data stays in Canada

Stored on Canadian servers and handled under PIPEDA. It's family information, treated like it.

✓

You choose how long history lasts

Keep the map's history anywhere from 1 to 30 days; after that it's gone. LocStat isn't a permanent record of anyone's movements.

✓

Locked-down sign-in

Every sign-in needs an authenticator code, with recovery codes for a lost phone and a short lockout after too many wrong tries.

✓

No ads. Nothing sold.

We earn from a simple subscription — never from your data. Your family's whereabouts are not a product.

Simple pricing

One plan. The whole family.

No per-person fees, no upsells. One flat price covers everyone at home.

Good questions

A few things families ask

Isn't this just a tracking app?

No. LocStat only works when the people on the map have accepted an invite, and everyone can always see who can see them. It's built for families looking out for each other — not for watching anyone secretly. If that's what you're after, this isn't the app.

Can my kids see when I'm coming?

Yes. When a parent taps "on my way," the child's app shows a live arrival time — "Dad, about 6 min" — so a kid waiting at school or practice knows how far off their ride is. That "how far away is Dad?" moment is often the whole point.

Where is our data stored?

On Canadian servers, handled under Canada's PIPEDA privacy law. We keep the recent picture so the app is useful, and let older history fade. We never sell data or run ads.

Will it drain the phone's battery?

It's designed to be light. LocStat checks in just often enough to be useful and backs off when everyone's settled. You can also set a slower interval for a device whenever you like.

What phones does it work on?

The family map runs in any web browser, and there's a tracked-device app for iPhone and Android — including Android phones without Google services, and simple kid phones.

Can your staff see where we are?

No. Our support and developer staff can look up an account to help you, but they can never see anyone's location. Every staff sign-in and every page they view is logged.
